Club Finances Explained

Every club runs on a single balance, and that balance moves every day whether or not you log in. Nothing about it is hidden behind a menu you have to hunt for: the Finances page shows the same numbers described here, updated as they happen.

Where the money comes from

Matchday revenue is paid to the home team only, for every home fixture. How much depends on two things: your stadium's capacity, the seats in its eight stands that you actually have to sell (a stand that's being rebuilt is closed and sells nothing), and an attendance percentage that moves between 55% and 75% based on your club's Reputation. A bigger stadium with nobody interested in filling it still only sells the seats it sells.

On top of matchday income, three things arrive automatically every day regardless of whether you played a match: a flat league sponsorship payment, merchandise income, and parking income. Merchandise and parking both scale up with the level of their matching facility, the Merchandise Store and the Parking facility respectively, so those two lines are something you can actually grow over time rather than a fixed number attached to the club.

Once a season ends, every club also receives prize money based on where it finished in its own league. Every club in an Elite Division gets a base of €1,500,000 plus €250,000 for each place it finishes above the bottom, so the champion takes home €5,750,000. National Division clubs get a base of €750,000 plus €125,000 per place, up to €2,875,000 for the title. It's paid at the moment the new season starts, and the Season Planner shows what your current position is worth. See League Structure, Promotion & Relegation for how that final position actually gets decided, and what promotion and relegation do to a club beyond the finances page.

Where it goes

Wages are the expense that never takes a day off. They're quoted per week on a player's contract, but actually paid out in daily instalments as part of the same daily finance tick that pays in the income above, and they come out of the balance automatically, every single day, whether your team won, lost, or didn't play at all. Wages are also mandatory: if paying them pushes your balance below zero, they get paid anyway and the club goes into debt.

Discretionary spending works the opposite way. Buying a player on the transfer market or starting a facility upgrade both draw from the same balance, but neither one is allowed to happen at all once that balance hits zero. The system will let a wage bill push you into the red; it won't let a transfer bid do the same thing.

What Reputation actually touches here

Reputation isn't something a club starts with, it's earned over time through match results, league position, promotion, relegation and cup performance. On the finance side specifically, it only does one thing: it's one of the two inputs to your matchday attendance percentage, alongside your stadium's capacity. It doesn't touch sponsorship, merchandise, parking, or prize money directly.

The number worth watching

Every income line here is either tied to a facility level, tied to a match result, or paid once a season. Wages are the one line that's none of those things: fixed to your squad, paid daily, and completely indifferent to how your season is going. That's the practical shape of club finances in Goal Legends, a handful of income streams that ebb and flow, and one recurring cost that doesn't. See Club Facilities Explained for how the Stadium, Merchandise Store and Parking levels mentioned above actually get upgraded.
